august 16

last night (sunday) we headed out to the movies with our friends and neighbours, to see DISTRICT 9 - which DEFINITELY lived up to the hype (what little there's been!)
it was riveting to watch, and a compelling story

after the movie we headed here to enigma for coffee and cake
it used to be espressoholic, but they up and left after a rent dispute

it's still a hip and funky place to drink coffee late at night, even though i felt like the oldest person in the place as soon as i walked through the door!

how come hip and funky is inherently associated with young and cool???

  1. hmm..that's something to think about..Hip & Funky is always associated with young & cool. That' s right. But don't have a clue y.Maybe because hip & funky oldies look a bit OUT OF THE PLACE!

  2. Stopping by from SITS to say "hi"! :) Hip and funky is def. associated with young and cool. I don't know why or necessarily think it's a fair association. But think back when you were oh...say 18. Now imagine your mom or grandma as being Hip and Funky. Kind of eww, right? Yep, we've become our moms and grandmas. LOL (and that's a whole 'nother ewww!)

  3. Well, if you say hip with an older person, you think of replacement! LOL. It does amaze me,though, hearing people my age say, "Cool." However, they do look more hip and cool than me. Funky means you have purple hair and you wear cutting edge t-shirts that ooze coolness--oh, and you can wear really low-cut pants. Eclectic works, though. It's hip and cool, but no matter your age you can use that!

  4. It's impressive that you can keep up with the 365 so well. I always fall out after 3 or 4 months when I try.
    Oh and hi from SITS.

  5. I think that's beginning to change. With thirty being the new twenty, then forty being the new thirty, now fifty being the new forty, we're becoming younger longer. :-)

  6. Yup it is but certainly you don't have to buy into that. Plus you're only as old as you think you are.
